We never store your LinkedIn data or generated resumes — anywhere, ever.

1. Overview

ResumeLift ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do with it. The short version: we collect very little, store almost nothing, and never sell your data.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect or Store

This is the most important section. ResumeLift does not store:

  • Your LinkedIn PDF — uploaded files are processed in memory only and never written to disk or a database
  • Your generated resumes — they exist only in your browser session and are gone when you close the tab
  • Your generated cover letters — same as resumes, session-only
  • Your resume content — we do not log, index, or analyze the text of your resumes

3. Data We Do Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, our authentication provider (Clerk) collects and stores:

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided)
  • Authentication credentials (managed securely by Clerk)
  • Token balance (number of generation credits remaining)

Payment Information

When you purchase tokens, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We do not receive or store your credit card number, bank account details, or other financial information. Stripe provides us only with:

  • Transaction confirmation (success/failure)
  • Purchase amount
  • A Stripe customer identifier

Support Messages

If you contact us through the in-app support widget, your messages and our replies are stored as part of your account metadata so we can provide ongoing support.

4. How Your Resume Data Flows

Here is exactly what happens when you generate resumes:

  1. Upload: Your LinkedIn PDF is sent to our server and read in memory. It is never written to disk or a database.
  2. Processing: The PDF text is sent to Claude AI (by Anthropic) via a secure API call. Anthropic's data usage policy states that API inputs are not used to train their models.
  3. Delivery: The generated resumes are sent directly to your browser. They exist only in your browser session.
  4. Closure: When you close the tab or navigate away, everything is gone. No server logs, no copies, no trace.

We use essential cookies only, required for authentication and session management (provided by Clerk). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies that monitor your behavior across sites.

7. Data Retention

Your account information (email, name, token balance) is retained as long as your account is active. Resume and cover letter content is never retained — it exists only for the duration of a single browser session. If you wish to delete your account, please contact us through the in-app support widget.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
  • Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your account information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication through Clerk, and PCI-compliant payment processing through Stripe. Since we don't store your resume data, there is no resume data to breach.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
